studio Membership Application

Please fill out the form below to share your interest in our membership program. Membership Applications are accepted year-round, and are reviewed as studios become available.

Due to the volume of applications we receive, we are only able to follow up with artists who are successfully approved for membership. We do keep all membership applications on file for future review cycles, though we suggest that if your practice or documentation has changed significantly, you should apply again.

Eligibility:

Emerging artists should be promising artists in their formative years, committed to advancing their own work and professional careers.
Artists must be over 21 years of age and must currently reside in the Austin area.
Artists working in most mediums will be considered, including experimental media; however, artists working with toxic materials, hazardous machinery, etc. will not be considered due to limitations within the building.

What do you wish to accomplish if granted a studio membership?

Artist members are expected to help build and contribute to Contracommon's community. In what way(s) would you be able to contribute?

Contracommon is run and operated by its artist members. This means that resident members are required to attend group meetings, sign up for shifts to watch the gallery, help manage workshops and events, etc. Are you prepared to commit to some community time each month, in addition to your normal studio practice?

There's typically between 20-40 hours of expected community time per month. We will work around your schedule, but all residents are expected to participate as much as possible.
