Closed CirCuit

A collaborative group exhibition
November 4 - December 26, 2022

Contracommon is proud to present Closed Circuit, a group exhibition of collaborative works created by the current Contracommon members. The exhibition will be on view in the gallery from November 4th through December 26th, 2022. Closed Circuit will open with a reception and open studios event on Saturday, November 5th from 6 – 10pm.

Leading up to Closed Circuit, the fifteen resident artists at Contracommon came together in many permutations to create collaborative works that meld their individual styles and vision. The artists worked in pairs and small groups, across different mediums and aesthetic sensibilities, to produce pieces completely co-authored from start to finish. Visually, the compositions may look very different, but the heart of the thematic concept for this show is the discovery and innovation that can come out of working with others in a discipline that often expects individuals to work alone. These artists dug deep into learning about and exploring each others’ processes, built new modes of creating together and will, no doubt, carry these lessons into their own practices as they move forward. Closed Circuit offers fresh perspectives on contemporary mixed media processes for both the artists and the viewers.

Participating artists include: Forrest Aderholt, Taylor Bailey, Kelsey Baker, Aria Brownell, Brock Caron, Holly Cerna, Alex Coronel, Darryl Demps Jr., Amar Gupta, Sam Jacobson, Molly Knobloch, Sadé Lawson, Iris Rylander, Rachel Spits and Chris Tobar.
