Brock Caron

Brock Caron is a contemporary artist from Austin, TX, who primarily creates painting and ink illustrations on paper, wood, and found objects. He is also active in printmaking, installation, and sculpture. Brock received his BFA from Texas State University and is currently a studio member of Contracommon. When heโ€™s not making art, he's spending time with his wife and their old dog, fishing for a new fishing spot, or at a dive bar, spending 10 bucks on beer and 20 bucks on the jukebox.

Brockโ€™s work is about overheard stories and comments, from places that may or may not exist. The work is influenced by traditional American music, ventures of early American life, and advertisements from the days of cure-alls and moonshining. In his exhibition Generally General, Brock Caron invites the viewer to get lost in a town that's between here and nowhere, and end up at the local general store. Guests will be immersed in a space that disguises some of the white walls of the gallery, and lets the viewer see the work in its supposed natural setting. Using a mix of illustration, sculpture, painting, and printmaking, he hopes to bring to life a small town untouched by a fast-paced world.
