Within Reach

Contracommon is proud to present Within Reach, a group exhibition featuring works by current members of the nonprofit, as part of Austin Studio Tour. Big Medium, the organization that produces the Austin Studio Tour each year, will be hosting this exhibition in their new complex at 4201 S Congress Ave (Stop #205 on the AST map).

In temporary group exhibition Within Reach, Contracommon artists draw upon ideas of desire, belonging, and memory as unifying themes; exploring what it means to reach out for something, through many interpretations and in many different mediums.

Participating artists include: Forrest Aderholt, Kelsey Baker, Mar Beltran, Aria Brownell, Deke Cameron, Holly Cerna, Darryl Demps Jr., Molly Knobloch, Sadé Lawson, Iris Rylander, Rachel Spits and Chris Tobar.

I’ve Had It.

Contracommon is proud to present I’ve Had It., an absurdist pop-up guerrilla sculpture garden exhibiting 3D and interactive works from current Contracommon members and friends. The nonprofit group partnered with their friends at Bolm studios to create this experimental space and transform their parking lot in conjunction with Austin Studio Tour (Stop #298 on the AST map).

Nestled beneath several… quaint tents on a patch of astroturf, the viewer is presented with a whimsical landscape, a temporary refuge from the ordinary. Contracommon has transformed this space, once a dull slab of concrete, into a fertile ground for eccentricity, blurring the lines between the mundane and the ridiculous.
