Contracommon is proud to present a solo exhibition of works by printmaker Schuyler DeMarinis. Schuyler’s work will be on view from January 15th to February 15th, during the PrintAustin 2021 festival. Click here for more information about events and offerings during PrintAustin from Contracommon members.

Schuyler DeMarinis uses found imagery and materials to create prints with natural dyes that convey our current relationship to nature. His series represents the earth's response to human actions and the mistreatment of the planet. DeMarinis travels to photograph meaningful sites that serve as symbolic representations of the effects of the Anthropocene. These images are then collaged together and turned into photolithographs, imagining what is to come. The compositions can be viewed as a mix of past, current, and future events. This world needs healing. We are the problem. We can either live with it, or help change it.

The gallery will be open Saturdays and Sundays from 12-6pm, or by appointment on weekdays, for the duration of the show. Click here to schedule an appointment. Click here to view a 3D scan of the current exhibition in our gallery.
