  • Contracommon 12912 Hill Country Boulevard #F-140 Bee Cave, TX, 78738 (map)

EXPLORE THE PURPOSES AND PRACTICES–BOTH LITERAL AND FIGURATIVE–OF CATALOGING WITH DIVERSE ENSEMBLE OF ARTISTS

Contracommon is proud to present Inventory-ing, a multimedia group exhibition thematically organized around the concepts of archives and the storing or sharing of information. On view in the gallery from August 23rd through September 21st, 2024, the exhibition will open with a reception on August 24th from 4–7pm, including a discussion with the artists. In addition, The Gallery ATX will be hosting a Zine Fest on Saturday, September 21st from 12–6pm, alongside a closing celebration for the exhibition.

Curated by Austin-based new media artist Sara Aleyce Roma, Inventory-ing features artists whose works revolve around ephemera, collection, and mementos, but are explored through divergent mediums and practices.

“To take stock of
To account for
To break the whole into its constituent parts
[To materialize past events
To re-hash memento]
The baseline for close investigation then combination-
Ideas for tomorrow”
