Contracommon is proud to present RE/FLEX V, the fifth iteration of a series of group exhibitions featuring current works from emerging artists reacting to the world around them. The latest version of RE/FLEX, held in conjunction with the Austin Studio Tour, will be on view at the nonprofit’s headquarters in Bee Cave from November 3rd through December 18th, 2023. In lieu of a typical opening reception, Contracommon will host a party and open studios event on Friday, November 3rd from 6 – 9pm to kick off the exhibition and their additional programming for the Austin Studio Tour.

The RE/FLEX series offers a snapshot of artists’ current practices with the opportunity for them to “flex” their creative prowess. RE/FLEX V showcases artwork across all media from emerging Central Texas artists within and outside the nonprofit organization.

Contracommon has hosted an unofficial Austin Studio Tour kickoff party every year since 2021. This year’s event will feature refreshments provided by Tito’s Handmade Vodka and Big Country Organic Brewing Co., open studios from all current and several new Contracommon members, pop-up vendors, as well as the opening of the RE/FLEX V exhibition. Additionally, Contracommon will have two official stops on the AST Map: a temporary group exhibition, Within Reach (Stop #205); and a pop-up sculpture garden I’ve Had It (Stop #298).

RE/FLEX V will be on view in the Contracommon gallery from November 3rd through December 18th, 2023. The gallery is open to the public Friday - Sunday from 12pm – 6pm, and with private viewing appointments available Monday - Thursday at calendly.com/contracommon.

The kickoff party and open studios event, sponsored by Tito’s Handmade Vodka and and Big Country Organic Brewing Co., will be held on Friday, November 3rd from 6-9pm, and is free and open to the public.
